Washing Instructions
GORE-TEX® products are not only built to last, they're easy to take care of, too. Routine care and maintenance on your part will ensure the highest performance from them and extend their useful lifespan.
Follow the manufacturer’s recommended care instructions - typically found on an inside tag - and your GORE-TEX® products will be ready to go when you are.

GORE-TEX® OUTERWEAR
WASH
- Machine-wash warm (104° F/40° C). Powder or liquid detergent. No fabric softener. Follow manufacturer's instructions.
DRY CLEAN
- If professionally dry-cleaned, request clear distilled solvent rinse and spray repellent. Follow manufacturer's instructions.
IRON
- Steam-iron warm, placing a towel or cloth between the garment and the iron. No need to iron the garment until it is completely dry.
BLEACH
- No chlorine bleach. It may damage your garment.
DRY
- Tumble-dry warm. The heat from the dryer will help to reactivate the durable water repellent (DWR) treatment on your garment's outer fabric.
WATER REPELLENT TREATMENT
- Gore recommends applying a topical water repellency restorative (DWR treatment) for outdoor fabrics, available at your local outdoor retailer. We do not recommend wash-in treatments as they can affect the garment's breathability.
STAIN REMOVAL
- Use a pre-wash treatment such as Shout® or Spray 'n Wash®, following its manufacturer's instructions. Rinse well.
GORE-TEX® FOOTWEAR
WASH
- Clean the exterior with a cloth or brush and lukewarm water. The manufacturer may recommend leather treatment or preservation. Shake out sand, gravel, and dirt from inside the footwear. Remove and shake out the foot bed if applicable.
DRY CLEAN
- Not applicable.
IRON
- Not applicable.
BLEACH
- No chlorine bleach. It may damage your footwear.
DRY
- Dry naturally at moderate temperatures. Avoid direct heat. Convection-style boot driers work well.
WATER REPELLENT TREATMENT
- We do not recommend the use of waterproofing waxes or greases as they can affect the footwear's breathability. Apply only treatments, polishes, conditioners, and dressings recommended by the manufacturer.
STAIN REMOVAL
- Follow the footwear manufacturer's instructions.
GORE-TEX® GLOVES
WASH
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Machine or hand wash in warm water. Gently squeeze glove from fingertips to wrist to remove excess water. Do not twist.
DRY CLEAN
- Not applicable.
IRON
- Do not iron.
BLEACH
- No chlorine bleach. It may damage your glove.
DRY
- Drip-dry with the fingers facing upwards.
WATER REPELLENT TREATMENT
- Gore recommends applying a topical water repellency restorative (DWR treatment) for outdoor fabrics, available at your local outdoor retailer. We do not recommend wash-in treatments as they can affect breathability.
STAIN REMOVAL
- Use a pre-wash treatment such as Shout® or Spray 'n Wash®, following its manufacturer's instructions. Rinse well.
GORE-TEX® SCENT CONTROL OUTERWEAR
WASH
- Machine-wash warm (104° F/40° C) with unscented detergent after 40 hours of field use. No fabric softener. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
DRY CLEAN
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
IRON
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
BLEACH
- No chlorine bleach. It may damage your garment.
DRY
- Tumble-dry warm. Any warmth after washing is good for the garment as the heat will reactivate the DWR (durable water repellent) treatment on the outer fabric and the scent control odor adsorbing ability. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
WATER REPELLENT TREATMENT
- Gore recommends applying a topical water repellency restorative for outdoor fabrics, available at your local outdoor retailer.
STAIN REMOVAL
- Use an unscented pre-wash treatment such as Shout® or Spray 'n Wash®. Follow the pre-wash manufacturer's instructions. Rinse well.
GORE-TEX® SCENT CONTROL FOOTWEAR
WASH
- Clean the exterior with a cloth or brush and lukewarm water. The manufacturer may recommend leather treatment or preservation. Shake out sand, gravel, and dirt from inside the footwear. Remove and shake the out foot bed if applicable.
DRY CLEAN
- Not applicable.
IRON
- Do not iron.
BLEACH
- Do not bleach. It may damage your footwear.

SCENT REMOVAL TREATMENT
- Scent-eliminating sprays and cover scents will not affect the properties of the GORE-TEX® membrane.
WATER REPELLENT TREATMENT
- Follow the footwear manufacturer's instructions for treating the external fabric and leather. These treatments will not affect the GORE-TEX® liner.
STAIN REMOVAL
- Follow the footwear manufacturer's instructions.
GORE-TEX® IMMERSION® TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS
WASH
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Waders that incorporate neoprene boots should only be washed by hand in cold water and drip-dried. No fabric softener.
DRY CLEAN
- Do not dry clean.
IRON
- Do not iron.
BLEACH
- Do not bleach.
DRY
- Tumble-dry warm. The heat from the dryer will help to reactivate the durable water repellent (DWR) treatment on the product's outer fabric.
