Brand Focus: ADIDAS X IRAK

SIX STORIES VOL. 5: CHAPTER 4 – GENERAL GORE-TEX PRODUCT TECHNOLOGIES

Infamous NYC Graffiti Crew IRAK Teams Up with adidas

In 2007, graffiti collective and clothing brand IRAK worked with adidas Originals to create two versions of the rugged Rmx EQT Support Runner. Now, both brands work together once again to create a GORE-TEX equipped ZX 8000.

    GRAFFITI DRESS CODES

In the mid-90s, graffiti dress codes in New York City were defined by brightly colored GORE-TEX jackets and footwear. Rugged outerwear was also pragmatic for its ability to survive the wear and tear of infiltrating train tunnels and running from the authorities. This notion played directly into IRAK’s ZX 8000.

IRAK x adidas Originals ZX 8000

The collaborative ZX 8000 arrived in two distinct colorways. The collaboration was defined by eye-catching color blocking and text placement, like “IRAK 2020” on the toe, as well as reflective paneling.

For me, products need to be functional in order to support me in my life. I associate GORE-TEX with great technology, waterproofness and lightweight design. I really appreciate those features.
