As a global leader in the production of outdoor apparel, we have a responsibility to protect the places where people work and play wearing our products.
We are contributing our fair share to limit global warming to well below two degrees Celsius. According to science, this is the threshold we must not exceed to avoid irreversible damage to our planet. That´s why we are setting ambitious, science-based carbon goals across both our own operations as well as our upstream and downstream activities and areas of influence:
By 2030, we will reduce carbon emissions* originating from Gore's manufacturing sites and offices by 60%, from a 2016 baseline, and work towards becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
In addition, we target a reduction of GORE-TEX product related emissions by 35% by 2030, also from a 2016 baseline.

Based on the Science-Based Targets methodology, we’ve calculated the carbon emissions attributable to GORE-TEX products. This helped us identify three initial areas of action to lower our carbon footprint:
Reduce energy consumption and introduce renewable energy at Gore's manufacturing sites
Optimizing product design, e.g. switching to more durable materials or membranes and textiles with a lower footprint wherever fit for use
Working with our suppliers to reduce their plant emissions by switching from fossil fuel generated energy to renewable energy and increasing efficiency.
The OIA Climate Action Corps is the outdoor industry’s collaborative model to lead on climate action to reduce industry-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in accordance with the IPPC Guidelines. The OIA Climate Action Corps supports brands, retailers, manufacturers and suppliers as they take real and immediate action to reduce their own footprint, signaling their company’s and our industry’s commitment to doing business better.
