That’s why we review each component and every step of our supply chain to look for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. And we care deeply about enabling worker wellness throughout our supply chain and our own manufacturing sites.
We also foster connections with people and communities in the outdoors to protect nature through collaborations such as Bionic and as seen in our Breaking Trails film series.
Our Glover Creek Solar PPA in Kentucky, USA, added 55 MWh of new renewable electricity to the electrical grid that powers our largest manufacturing region. The Glover Creek solar farm covers 320 acres and will produce over 110,000 MWh of renewable electricity every year, reducing our carbon footprint by nearly 35,000 tons and ensuring that all of Gore’s Eastern USA operations run on 100% renewable electricity.
In addition, Gore Fabrics co-founded the Supply Chain Decarbonisation project in 2022, involving 10 brands with mutual suppliers in the EU whose ultimate goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transform energy usage across our industry. And we’re also a proud member of the Outdoor Industry Association’s Climate Action Corps.
Our exciting collaboration with Bionic in Costa Rica has resulted in the creation of innovative GORE-TEX Laminates that use a recycled BIONIC face textile, made from 50% coastal plastic waste. By supporting local efforts to clean up our oceans and waterways, we’re turning garbage into good.
